Stephan Crawford of the US Commercial Service

On August 13, 2012 the Alliance presented an expert roundtable discussion, co-sponsored by the US Commercial Service, at the offices of Bingham McCutchen in downtown San Francisco. Entitled “China-SF Cooperation on Energy Efficiency: What Does It Mean For Your Business?”, the roundtable brought together participants from the city, local energy efficiency firms, nonprofits, and academia.

Guest expert speakers included Terry Fry of Nexant, Darlene Chiu Bryant of ChinaSF and Guillermo Rodriguez of San Francisco’s Department of Environment. The panelists presented perspectives on doing business with China and fielded audience questions about the new memorandum of understanding that the city recently signed with China to promote cooperation on advancing energy efficiency.

ChinaSF Director Darlene Chiu Bryant emphasized that including San Francisco area businesses in the implementation of the MOU is very important. If you or you business are interested in getting involved and finding out about upcoming opportunities, check out the ChinaSF website to sign up for updates or to contact their office directly. The Alliance has posted a complete summary of the event, which includes several key steps in the process of implementing the MOU – you can read the entire summary here.
