The Alliance is seeking an intern to work directly with the Alliance Program Manager and the Executive Director on a variety of activities. This is an exciting opportunity for the selected intern to gain valuable hands-on experience in program management, website development, report preparation and event planning. The intern will also learn about current environmental, social, cultural, and political issues affecting China and the U.S., especially pertaining to energy policy and air pollution.
Specific tasks will involve writing and programming, such as: Drafting and editing correspondence, fundraising materials, newsletters, monthly reports; Managing and updating the Alliance website via WordPress; Social networking via the Alliance’s Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook accounts; Assisting with Alliance databases management.
The intern will support the Alliance initiatives, which may include: Research for Alliance social media postings, monthly reports and any requests of information from Alliance partners; Support for the planning and execution of events, such as roundtables, Chinese delegation study tours, webinars, internal meetings and other special programs.
The position requires excellent organizational, writing and computer skills. The candidate should be:
- highly computer literate, with experience with WordPress and programming;
- proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as various social media platforms;
- very organized, professional and detail-oriented in order to provide high-level support;
- able to multitask, work independently and contribute to a team effort.
A strong interest in Energy Efficiency issues is preferred, but not required.
This is an unpaid position, but the successful candidate can get academic credit if permitted by their school. Candidates should be available to work 10-20 hours per week. Internship will be for the duration of the Spring 2014 semester (till end of May), with possibility of extension. The Alliance is located in the financial district of San Francisco.
